Future Perfect illustrates the symbiotic relationship between mankind, the river, and the environment. The sculpture alludes to the complex relationship of the need for continued economic growth and on-going concern for ecology. It is a reminder to St. Louisans of our dependence upon the river as well as a deeper mythological meaning signifying the journey through this life, or as mystical vessels sailed into the hereafter.
